Customer Rating: Summary: What more could you want?? Comment: I purchased 2 of these drives from Amazon.com to replace some older, much smaller drives in my desktop. They arrived in excellent shape, both worked perfectly, and all at a good price (I did shop around quite a bit).
Customer Rating: Summary: Western Digital label on Maxtor Drive - Part II Comment: Unfortunately I am having exactly the similar issue that "D. Bachman" is facing (I bought 2 of WD 1TB HDD directly from Amazon to avoid any such issue. Both came factory sealed and when I installed them it has showed 80GB only. And when I test them one by one, it appeared that one is totally not working and the other one is 80GB only instead of 1TB! In addition, it has been written Matrox Corp on the back and WD printed on the front sticker)
I have seen a comment from "Levi Flaman" saying [Don't write up a 1 star comment complaining about factory mix-ups] and I totally disagree with him as this is the 2nd time happened to a customer and this could happened to another customer. Either Amazon.com look into this issue and try to work it out, or WD should be careful with their produced products!
Just for the information, I am one of the biggest buyer of WD products and this is the first time I face such issue which really disappointed me.
I have wrote to Amazon and I am now waiting for their response to replace the items for me.
Customer Rating: Summary: Black Caviar Comment: This is a GREAT hard drive! (But be aware that it does not come as a "Plug-n-Play". It has to be formated.)
Customer Rating: Summary: quiet and quick Comment: If your are having trouble using a eSata expanded drive with DirecTv, this is your baby. Slip it into an Atec MX-1 enclosure and plug it into the back of the HDDvr and take yourself an extended vacation and when you come home all your preferred programs will be waiting on you. Lots of hours available to record you favorite shows.
Customer Rating: Summary: Western Digital label on Maxtor Drive Comment: I bought 2 of these directly from Amazon. They looked fine until I installed them in my system. They came up as 80GB Maxtor drives rather than 1TB Western Digital drives. The stickers on the top of the drive say Western Digital 1TB but the electronics board on the bottom of the drive says Maxtor. There's been an obvious mixup here, probably at the factory.
Amazon is replacing the drives with new ones. I hope I don't get the same...
