The concept of home-theater is very enticing. Sony has aligned this sound system to be compatible with their popular Bravia widescreen TV line. Yet, it will still deliver fine performance with most other HDTV sets on the market. As a leader in products with HDMI connectivity, Sony has created BRAVIA Theater Sync to go beyond simple audio and video transmission. When combined with a select number of BRAVIA Televisions and other Sony audio and video products, in addition to audio and video transmission, control functions will be transmitted via the HDMI cable. Comment: Great system, but just not enough volume. If you are looking for serious volume look somewhere else because this unit is limited in that department.

Comment: I was very pleased with this Sony system. I set it up, including running the wires through the ceiling, in about 90 minutes. It is simple to use and the sound is quite good. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a simple, quality system.

Comment: The Sony DAV-HDX500/i Bravia Home Theater system is WONDERFUL!!! We feel as if we are actually in a Movie Theater, however the great sound effects that come out of it scare our dog and cats to death so they run and hide!!! We Love It!!!

Comment: I love the system. I'm not the best at hooking up systems like this but I got it done in a reasonable amount of time. It sounds great. I don't understand the review about "needs more bass". My wife and I watched "American Gangster" last night and we had to back off on the bass. It was shaking the house. It's not a powered subwoofer like my last system yet the bass is far superior. More importantly, when we watch a film we can really understand the conversations. There is a lot less "what did he say?" Also, no one could touch Amazon's price.
