This exciting new addition to the EOS System combines compact size and affordability with an added dose of features and sophistication. Improving on the previous model, Speedlite 420EX, the new 430EX can now be set into manual flash mode (full power~1/64). Flash compensation can be set on the flash unit, and manual control of the flash zoom head is now possible. Improvements in its circuitry make recycle time 40% faster, and since it is compatible with Canon's wireless E-TTL, it can be used as an affordable "slave unit". Wide-angle pull-down panel covers 14mm lens (on a full-frame camera) Zoom positions - 24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 70mm, 80mm, 105mm; Indicated by numerals on the LCD's focal length display Image Size Zoom Control - With cameras compatible with auto zoom, it zooms automatically to match the camera's image size Guide Number 141 ft./43m (at ISO 100); flash head at 105mm zoom setting Auto conversion of flash zoom coverage with compatible digital SLRs White balance info communicated instantly to compatible digital SLRs Bounce upward to 90 degrees; swivel right (to 90 degrees) and left (to 180 degrees) 14% lighter and approx. 25% smaller in overall volume than top-of-the-line 580EX Six flash custom functions built into the 430EX (set on rear LCD panel) Power Source - Four AA-size Alkaline Batteries (6V) or Four AA-size NiMH Rechargeable (4.8V) - both not included Unit Dimensions - 2.8 x 4.8 x 4.0 in./72 x 122 x 101mm / Weight - 11.6 oz./330g (without batteries)

Customer Rating: Summary: canon 430ex Comment: so far so good i wish canon came up w/the buttons that is not sooooooooooo soft.sometime having hardtime presssing it.
Customer Rating: Summary: awsome Comment: well i didnt do much flash photography but i thought it would be nice to have so i got and i find that i use it all the time more than i ever thought i would its easy to use and has just enough options to be great for a amature but not confusing but also enough to make a pro happy
Customer Rating: Summary: Great for the beginner Comment: As a novice photographer, I was looking for a flash to accompany my Canon Rebel xti. This fit the bill. The cost was reasonable relative to other flashes, and gave me the simplicity I was looking for as someone still learning the 'craft' of photography. Well worth the money.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good Accessory Comment: This flash is a good addd on if you have an EOS. It is small, portable/light which is a good thing. Larger and heavier flashes may put out more light when needed, or have faster recycle times, but this flash has worked fine for me.
It recycles fast enough (I have not missed a shot that I wanted because of the flash cycling too slowly) and it is fine for indoor use.
Customer Rating: Summary: awsome flash!! Comment: My flash went out on my cannon and I was back and forth on repairing it because it was cheaper to buy an external flash but I was concerned about the extra size of the flash but the pictures are way better now!!
