Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent Signal Strength Comment: I was getting low-good signal in my room. I ordered this antenna to replace the one on my router. Unfortunately the antenna on my router was not removable. Instead I fixed this antenna on the PCI Wireless card and the performance was fantastic. I am getting Excellent signal on my PC. I am very happy with this product.
Customer Rating: Summary: You'll be stealing your neighbor's Wifi in no time! Comment: I live in an apartment building and decided that getting free Wifi is a good way to save a 50 dollar bill every month. I hooked this up to my D-Link wireless card (installation is so easy a caveman could do it). Before the antenna was installed, I only got one network in my building with one bar. Now I get 12 networks with 3-5 bars on 6+ of them. This thing is worth its weight in gold in the internet bills it saves you (and would also makes for a handy tool if you have a really big house and can't get reception from your router).
Customer Rating: Summary: D-LINK 2.4GHZ Comment: I bought D-LINK 2.4Ghz at Amazon almost a month ago. I love it. It gives a good signal as those guys claim in the reviews. I usually had trouble to play (insantly watch) on NETFLIX, sometimes I had to reconnection a few times to finish a hole movie. Not any more. This D-LINK 2.4Ghz save me a headache. Price is good and it's easy to install. It took me 5 minutes.
Customer Rating: Summary: No improvement from DIR-655 Comment: I purchased this to improve the signal from a DIR-655 to an xbox360. Intention is to stream HD video. Reviewing the signal strength on the media center network tuner did not show any increase, it is still 1 line below HD signal strength requirement. No improvement in the quality of the video displayed was observed.
Customer Rating: Summary: For My House And Computers, This Works Perfectly! Comment: I put off buying this antenna for some time after reading the hit and miss reviews that different users posted here and elsewhere.
But with a $[...] rebate I decided to take the chance and test it out for myself. The results I post are real for my house and the computers we use. Know ahead of time that this may be one of the most subjective pieces of equipment you may buy and that it may or may not work for you, your building, your router, your type of wireless cards and your computers. That doesn't make it a bad product or defective. It just means that like all computers, the conditions and equipment make a huge difference. Be forewarned.
I live in a single story 2100 square foot steel reinforced concrete block ranch style home. The internet modem and D-Link DI 624 wireless router are at one of the extreme points of the house in my home office. So the signal with the original antenna to the far side of the house, over 40' away was always one or two bars.
After hooking the ANT24-0700 up to the D-Link wireless router, the signal strength was boosted a very great amount. I've not used any software to measure it like some of the others here have but I have done a walk around bar test which I'll share.
I took my newish HP laptop and first walked around the inside of the house. On the near side of the house in the bedrooms, I have 5/5 bars. On the farthest inside of the house in the master bedroom where my wife's E Machines computer is located, her signal went from 1 bar using a D-Link Turbo card to 4/5 bars. This is amazing to us especially after reading some of the reviews here that some folks aren't getting any boost at all, or very little. I can only surmise that it's a mismatch of equipment.
Continuing inside, the master bathroom on the opposite side of the house from the modem, router and antenna is at a full 5 bars when it used to be 2 bars. So I wanted to really see what this thing would do and took my HP laptop outside. Remember, the antenna is behind steel reinforced concrete block, stucco, foil lined insulation, etc.
Walking straight out from where the antenna sits, I had 4/5 at 150' (the house is that far from the road). That tells me my neighbors could hop on my system very easily if it wasn't protected. Something to consider when buying this product.
I walked around to the farthest point from the antenna, outside the master bedroom and stood at least ten feet away from the wall, the two farthest points of the house, OUTSIDE, through all of the walls, furniture, wiring, concrete, etc. I had 2/5 bars. I didn't think I would have any.
So all that to say that with my house and my computer equipment including the D-Link router and D-Link desktop card my wife uses, this antenna really does work very well.
Will it provide the same kicking boost for you? You will just have to try it and see. For some it has provided the extra added boost they were looking for. For others, they have only seen a slight increase. For me, it's just what I was looking for and works as advertised.
Good luck!
