Customer Rating: Summary: A gamish of information that needs some organization on glossy paper. Comment: I would love to rate this a 5 out of 5. Its got so much information in it, that you need a week to absorb everything in it, that's how comprehensive it is.
That being said there are SEVERAL downsides that could be fixed quite EASILY if anyone from that magazine paid attention to readers' reviews of that publication itself.
1. Its on oversized newspaper and it uses soy based ink so
a) expect it to stick out from your stack of magazines (and as a side note - its not easily foldable like a newspaper) as its weirdly sized AND your fingers get really dirty, not to mention any white shirts you might be wearing while reading it and laying on your lap for a moment. They need to go to a standard size format magazine glossy paper production. Also, the staples are a problem because the newspaper (~magazine) almost always comes with a paper portion that some company has paid a lot of money for, but I typically tear this off to get to the front cover. When you pull off the blurb to get to the actual publication, the staples come off. Get some glue!
2. Organization of sections is FAIR to OK but not great. Is it a writers' column with opinion or a bullet point section that has news blurbs, that are then explained elsewhere in detail from other authors. It makes you think: Didn't I just see something about this? and then you're paging back to try and find the original bullet point. Its all over the place.
3. I totally UNDERSTAND the value of advertising in a publication, HOWEVER, the articles are chopped up in zig zag fashion to accommodate ads. It makes my eyes cross.
4. I'd really like to renew my subscription to this magazine but I'm passing on it this year because of item no. 1 in my list. When I travel, and that's when I read the most, I need something magazine size to fit in the luggage, and not bump the person sitting next to me as I turn the pages. If they would only RESIZE the thing to either make it a real newspaper that has folds in it and can be manipulated easily OR a magazine like sports illustrated, I'd be happier. And yes, I know sports illustrated is stapled. Please, if anyone from Nascar Scene is reading this or knows someone who can tell them of these issues, then do so because I would LOVE to renew for 2 or 3 years but I just can't do it.
As a side note, I like to keep some of the magazines for a few years like National Geographic and since this is in newspaper format that is a strange size, they don't fit on the bookshelf and become easily ripped.
I'm so sorry! Please get it together and I will be back. I promise.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nascar Scene- Great Weekly content Comment: I have had my subscription to NASCAR Scene for a little over a year now. I love this magazine. It has very timely articles related to recent happenings in the NASCAR world. It follows the three major NASCAR series: Sprint cup, Nationwide and Craftsman truck. It also includes great notes and letters from fans and readers. In the back there is a weekly update on each driver. I recommend this publication to any NASCAR fan wanting to keep themselves abreast of what is happening in the world of NASCAR.
Word to the wise: you can probably get a better deal from the magazine's website.
Customer Rating: Summary: Scene Magazine is the best!!! Comment: With the drivers and team changing every year this was a good resource for making sure my husband and I knew what our favorite driver would be driving and his standings throughout the year. Also this year it helped us keep who the car owners were. You only hear about a few of the big names but it is nice to know there is more than 5 race teams.
Customer Rating: Summary: read it every week Comment: I enjoy my subscription to this magazine. Includes notes on every team/driver every week and longer feature articles on different topics. Also letters, schedules and statistics.
Customer Rating: Summary: Scene magazine Comment: This magazine is perfect for the Nascar fan. Gives you all the informtion you could possible want from race reviews, interviews, and whats going on in Nascar any division truck, Sprint cup, or Busch series/National series.
