Customer Rating: Summary: Major Shortcoming Comment: These measuring cups have always had an annoying issue that makes no sense to me. I am a right-handed American who uses Cups as a measuring unit. When I am pouring something into the measuring cup, I hold the cup in my left hand and pour with my dominant right hand. That means that the scale I need is on the opposite side of the cup. It p***** me off every single time. Was this designed for left-handed people, or am I missing something?
Customer Rating: Summary: Durable and Chemical Free Comment: I use my 4-cup glass measuring cup the most but sometimes you only need to heat up a cup of liquid and that's when I use my 1-cup glass measuring cup. It's convenient, smaller, lighter to use.
If I am measuring solids then I use a stainless steel or plastic set but if I am measuring liquids then glass is the only way to go, especially when I need to heat up in the microwave.
I like the glass Pyrex measuring cups. They are very durable, safe from chemical worries like plastics and odor and stain resistant.
Customer Rating: Summary: Don't Waste Your Money Comment: A while back I accidently dropped my 20+ year old Pyrex measuring cup and it broke in pieces. I had had it so long it was like an old friend. I thought, no problem, I'll just order a couple of them to replace the one I broke. I would not consider any brand but Pyrex because my old one had served me so well for years. BIG MISTAKE! These days, Pyrex ain't what it used to be. My original Pyrex measuring cup was almost like hardened glass, almost chip resistant. The ones they now make are made out of a totally different kind of glass. The only word that comes to mind is "cheap glass." But that's not the worst of it. The way the handle is designed is awful. On the current design, you can't get a firm, solid grip because the handle only goes half way down. The old version's handle was like you would find on a coffee cup - the top and tip were attached to the cup part. You knew you had a good grip. Also, if your hand is not completely dry and clean, the cup can very easily slip out of your hand. I won't even pick mine up and hold it by the handle. Too much of a chance it will slip out of my hand. I am in the process of looking for a replacement even if it's just plastic. I do not recommend this Pyrex measuring cup.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good Product Comment: The only reason I am rating it a four is that the cup is bigger than a cup and I wish it would continue with the numbers on the side to indicate the extra room. Otherwise, good product.
Customer Rating: Summary: Perfect size for smaller jobs Comment: You can't beat Pyrex. It's tried and true. And this measuring cup in a handy size for smaller jobs. I had the 2-cup version and it just seemed to large sometimes. This is a nice, smaller size -- not so heavy since there's not so much glass. I highly recommend.
